EFFECT OF BUSINESS AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF SECRETARIAL MINDSET GROWTH IN NIGERIA

Abstract

The main objective of this study was to determine the effect of business and personal attributes on the development of secretarial mind-set growth in Nigeria. To this end, 3 research objective and 3 null hypotheses were raised for the study. A descriptive survey was selected for the study and a population of 224 secretarial staff in Zaria metropolis, Kaduna state. The entire population was used as the sample size of the study, due to its limited number. The instrument for data collection was a questionnaire titled ‘‘Business and Personal Attributes on the Secretarial Mind Set Growth in Nigeria’’ was used as the instrument for data collection. All the three null hypotheses were tested at 0.05 levels of significance using Regression Analysis. The study reveals among others; business and personal attributes has significant effect on the secretarial mind-set growth in Nigeria. In line with these it was concluded that Business and Personal Attributes are fundamental to an effective and sufficient service delivery among secretaries/office managers in any organization. It was recommended among others that the That the Secretaries should appear and act professionally when dealing with their bosses, colleagues, visitors and the general public and this will go a long way in protecting the image of the profession thereby improving secretarial mind-set growth in Nigeria.
